Judges are too powerful. I can’t believe they can intrude on the executive branch of government. It doesn’t make any sense to me. So, I won’t drop a problem on you. I come with a solution. It’s time to elect judges. It’s the only way to fix the mess.
Appointments
The current system of appointing federal judges to lifetime posts is as dumb as ranked choice voting. It doesn’t matter if it’s a republican or democrat president. Judges should have a four year term. Then, they should have to win an election to continue. This will put an immediate stop to judges legislating from the bench. It’s ridiculous that they can do whatever they want with no consequences. If they are not doing their job right, we should be able to vote them out.
Supreme
This applies to the Supreme Court also. The justices should be elected every four years. This would prevent justices like Amy Coney Barrett from overreaching on her decisions. I admit that I don’t know the details of the law. But, I know about my money. Somehow, she decided that my tax dollars should be used to pay for a bunch of stupid things that have nothing to do with making my life better. Since when can some lowlife federal judge and some rogue Supreme Court justice overrule the president of the United States and harm American citizens.
If a Supreme Court justice keeps abusing their power, then we should have the opportunity to vote that person out. Barrett would be out immediately.
Recall
There also needs to be a quick remedy when a federal judge does not follow the constitution. We should be able to recall the judge. It would work the same way as recalling a governor. Once an established number of signatures are attained, a special election is held to determine if the judge should be recalled. If the judge is recalled, then the people vote on the replacement. This will get some attention.
Conclusion
We need to reel in these out of control federal judges. I don’t care if they rule for or against Trump. They need to stay out of politics and do their job. The past five years has sickened me. My faith in the judicial system is below zero. When you don’t have to worry about losing your job, you have carte blanche to do whatever you wish. If I had the same privilege as these judges, I could refuse to do what my boss asks. And, I wouldn’t get fired for it. That’s what we’re dealing with.
