My Disdain For Changing The Clocks

  • by
I don't like changing the clocks for daylight savings time

A few posts ago, I shared my disdain for self checkout. But, my disdain for changing the clocks might just be my number one agitation in the universe. Why in the world do we still follow this ridiculous procedure? Let’s pick one way and stay that way. I don’t even care if it is the choice with less sunlight at the end of the day.

Still Up

Daylight savings time makes me crazy

I changed the clocks early Sunday morning. On Sunday night, I didn’t fall asleep until after 2am. Now it is Monday night at 2:30am, and I’m still up. Every time I change the clocks, it takes me at least a week to get my sleep adjusted. It might seem like a simple thing, but there are a lot of health problems that arise from lack of sleep. I can’t stand going through this every time I change the clocks.

Circadian Rhythms

My old doctor retired. But, he always told me that the clock change affects my circadian rhythm. And, he is absolutely correct. Circadian rhythms are the natural patterns that take place in your body over the course of each 24-hour cycle. In other words, it is your internal time clock. Your body knows when it is time to work, time to eat, time to wake up and time to sleep.

Changing the clock throws the whole thing off. Then, your body needs time to adjust to the new rhythm. Fortunately, some people adjust quickly. But, I don’t. I’m just miserable for at least a week until I get adjusted.

History

There are tons of citations about why clock changes were implemented to begin with. But, there is also a ton of evidence supporting abolishing the time change. I support abolishing the time change. It is no longer necessary.

I know that President Trump is thinking about abolishing the clock change. And, I think it would be a very popular decision. I know it isn’t just me. There are many more others like me. Let’s make America healthy again and eliminate this nuisance that results in health issues.

Conclusion

I need sleep. And, I need to be able to wake up in the morning. I need to be healthy and I need to maintain my circadian rhythm. Please put the clock change “to bed.” It’s “time” has come to be retired for good.
